Minutes of IC RICH1 HPD column meeting

Monday 8th January 2007

Present: Bill Cameron, Richard Plackett and Dave Websdale

U Channels

Due to re drilling at AC precision to fix accuracy problem labels on channels may well have been reversed. This needs to be checked and the nomenclature changed to match the metal. RP to check on TSs return.
28 of the 32 U channels at IC have been sent to the annodisers (Morden Platers) with 4 held back (one of each) to allow us to check alignment and orientation if necessary during the machining of the rungs and end pieces.
The 28 should return from the annodisers early this week, DW will phone them and check their progress.

End Pieces

These are currently being manufactured in the workshop. 10 will be made initially and sent to CERN unnanodised to allow mounting at Milano to occur as soon as possible.
There are already 2 complete columns at CERN (one already mounted) so 10 more will allow another 5 to be constructed and to be sent to Milano for the HV to be mounted.
When the HV is mounted the end pieces will be swapped for anodised ones. - See column assembly below

Rungs

The altered rungs are 50% complete in the IC workshop, should be finished by end of week (11th/12th?) to be transported to CERN.
RP to label them when they are complete to ease assembly.

Column Assembly

6 columns require HV boards to be attached at Milano to allow the top half of the RICH1 electronics to be completed on schedule.
Most of the rungs were shipped to CERN, along with 2 complete columns.
To be ready in time the minimum remaining parts will be completed and shipped to CERN to be assembled and then straight on to Milano.
RP and BC to assemble column mechanics at CERN at point 8.
BC will transport Uchannels (and end pieces and rungs) by car to point 8 sometime between Friday and Monday 15th Jan
Assembled column mechanics will then be transported to Milano in a CERN van

Patch Panels

RP to confirm design with TS. (Are we waiting for drawings?)
Noted that the patch panels are currently not on the the critical path.

Adaptor plates

Material arrived, awaiting workshop time

Cooling Plates

possibly still waiting for glue although EDH indicates it is being delivered today
DW waiting for names of technicians for contract purposes
Hoping that work will begin on the 15th Jan

Installation Mechanics

Still some slight changes needed to design to solve clashes.
