MINUTES OF RICH1 HPD & MECHANICS MEETING

Monday 19t March 2007 Present Geoff Barber, Bill Cameron, Dave Clark, Richard Plackett, Trevor Savidge, Gabriel Vidal & Dave Websdale.

Spherical Mirror Bottom Rail

Only one bottom rail has been made, it was originally conceived that two would be made, one for the alignment rig and one for the GE, however as it is not needed in these simultaneously one should be enough.
This rail's mounts will need to be shimmed to correct for the distortions in the gas enclosure.
We should not continue to shim with washer4s in cases like these, proper plates should be used.
One of the rail mounts may have a misplaced hole in its base, GB to check.

Spherical Mirror Top Rails

These are not designed yet.
GB will try and get these designed this week.
Spherical mirrors have a higher priority than the flat mirrors.

Flat Mirror Plates

A discussion with GB, BC and Roger is required for progress on the flat mirror plates, will occur at 11am this morning.
Modifications to rail blocks are complete excluding anti-shim machining.
GB to telephone AC precision about quote and time scale for adjusters.

Door Removal System

DC to organise during this week.

HPD Mechanics

Drawings for end plates nearly completed, still require elastic straps from RS to check where holes need to be. This sets the tightness for the fixings to the light tight plate.
TS and DC agree that drawings are needed before workshop can proceed.
TS will try and produce drawing for end plates and sub assemblies and quartz window frame for costing.
TS believes he ought to look at Mag Cal drawings from Syracuse to prepare for detailed questions. TS will try and do this this week, but almost certainly not before the meeting with Syracuse on the 20th.
Most serious Mag Cal clash is the systems height, there appear to be steps Syracuse can take to correct this.

HPD Ladders

Spare ladders still waiting end pieces back form anodisers, will then assemble and send remaining end pieces to CERN.
Need to bring cups back from CERN for spare ladders.
RP to contact Chris Eames to do an inventory of cups.

Patch Panels

RP to produce a patch panel document for TS for both sides.
