MINUTES OF RICH1 HPD & MECHANICS MEETING

Monday 26th March 2007
Present Bill Cameron, Dave Clark, Richard Plackett, Trevor Savidge, Gabriel Vidal & Dave Websdale.

HPD Box

End plate drawings are complete. 5 faces require machining, awkward numbers can be done on C+C
Do we need a test piece to check dowel assembly (TS?) DC responds he does not think so.
Start work on inside face, quickest way to check compatibility of two C+C files.
Rod/dowel design released, rods currently have one end tapped.
TS to sit down with Ian this afternoon and go over drawings in preparation for machining.
TS priorities this week are to finish the designs of the quartz window, long spars, roller blocks, long plinth and to provide a list of external parts to be ordered.

HPD Columns

7 HPD columns finished, this completes the top HPD plane.
DW to return 3 cups and bolts for for trials with spares.
RP to phone CE about the rest of the cups.
RP to assemble spare ladders this afternoon.

Patch Panels in GE

Possible conflict with the photon funnel due to proposed large plugs on temp monitoring and fibre bending radius.
Only use the bottom panels so gravity helps with PF space.
It would be very useful to have an extra panel for testing, quite a lot of work as some machining required due to panel thickness.
DW to return temp sensors to IC.

Mirror Parts

Most flat mirror mount parts complete, 14 'V' blocks still to do.
Machining off (anti-shimming) still to do.
It may be possible to do the flat and spherical mirror trial assemblies after Easter, depending on spherical mirror mount design progress and adjuster pieces for AC Precision.
DW will take spherical mirror mounting parts to CERN tomorrow to measure them against the carbon fibre frame.
Completing these pieces is a priority for the workshop.
