MINUTES OF RICH1 HPD & MECHANICS MEETING

Monday 2nd April 2007
Present Geoff Barber, Bill Cameron, Dave Clark, Richard Plackett, Trevor Savidge & Dave Websdale.

BC will now take parts to CERN on 4th Apr.

Flat mirrors

Rails: plates are completed, stand offs still have 'V's to be machined.
14 of these parts are required.
Flat plates complete except for holes with PTFE.
AC precision will have adjusters finished after bank holiday.
Handles for two plates in CERN are in GB's office, BC to add to list of parts to take.

Spherical Mirrors

Upper rail components are still to be manufactured.
Upper rial parts are mostly to be made by hand.
The Lower rail components have been completed.
The linking parts are being provided by Oxford.
GB still to design stops. In the short term G-clamps can be used for trial assembly in the alignment rig at CERN.
Adjustment system allows 1 turn of bolt to be equivalent to 1mm movement on HPD plane.
DW reports a problem with the long bolts in the C frames, extremely difficult to install. Should be held in place with captive bolts to avoid having to reinstall.

HPDs

TS reports progress on PF designs, detailed integration of blanking plate and PF capture system completed.
The two main frames of the PF are to be manufactured externally due to size, models of sufficient detail for quotes completed.
No change in PF size possible to accommodate MDM designs due to proximity of iron shield.
Chariot end plate files passed to Ian for manufacture in IC workshop.
DW reports that 26 cups missing in CERN, (although only 16 required to finish spares). Some may be in Milano, others may have been taken for small tests/cross checks and not returned. (souvenirs!)

Workshop

Workshop Completed door mechanics system, 12mm bolts required.
Mirror mounts provide more then enough work to keep everyone busy until well after Easter.
