MINUTES OF RICH1 HPD & MECHANICS MEETING

Friday 23rd November 2007 2007
Present Bill Cameron, Dave Clark, Richard Plackett, Trevor Savidge & Dave Websdale.

Upper HPD Box

There are 11 drawings in the workshop 4 are complete. There are currently drawings for a minimum of two weeks work in the workshop.
DC will try and get all the CNC work done first and then more on to the manual work.
Five parts have been sent away for water cutting.
Drawings still outstanding are the long structural pieces for the hood and the lid, approximately 9 pieces two pairs of which can be made form the same drawings.
These pieces are long pieces of standard material with many holes in and the sealing spars in the hood and lid.
The CNC files for the big panels are in the workshop but detailed drawings for the edge hole still need to be prepared.
In addition the drawings for the heavy patch panel still need to be finished.
One piece of material still needs to be be orders, 6mm Al plate for the HV top panel.
TS will return to HPD box drawings by the end of next week.
LV feed through bolts are ready for RP to check.
O ring material is being delivered reasonably quickly.
Work can start on the seals for the patch panels and other parts as soon as they are completed.

Protection Plate

TS and DC are still investigating what material to use to make the plate.
We need to be careful that this does not become a holding item.
The original clips were low load, can we use the same holes to mount stronger latches.
The probable shape of the design will be a speedframe frame with a thin nylon plate, depending on clips and clamps.

Other Connectors

Heavy patch panel all agreed - only requires some shuffling in CAD.
Cooling gas connectors have arrived.
RP to find out about nitrogen connectors.
