Introduction

Welcome to the Imperial College CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter pages. The UK has overall responsibility for the design, construction and commissioning of the ECAL Endcap Calorimeter and Imperial's involvment in this project spans testing and evaluation of lead tungstate crystals to finalising the read-out electronics design. In addition we were also responsble for the design of the detector pre-amplifier chip to be used in both barrel and endcap regions. The links below give more in-depth information on these activities.

Dry mounting of backplates. The alignment was accomplished to a precision of 0.5mm (J. Hill, RAL).
