The nature of dark matter is one of the pressing open questions in particle physics. Directional searches for dark matter provide a powerful way to discriminate signal from background in direct searches. I will describe the construction and operation of one directional experiment, the Dark Matter Time Projection Chamber (DMTPC), and report on results from its 2011 underground run, as well as future prospects for directional detection.
