Advanced Instrumentation for Future Collider Experiments

Maxim Titov

Front-line science builds on new ideas, but also relies on breakthrough instrumentation. Improvements in detector technology often come from capitalizing on industrial progress. In spite of disparate science objectives, many efforts face common problems and can benefit from sharing experience and expertise. Future trends at the instrumentation frontier will see a further shift towards the new era (“the era of integration”), including integration of: detector and electronics; functionality (the path to fully exploit CMOS potential); research - industry (photolithography and microelectronics businesses); and different technologies (e.g. gaseous-silicon). Several directions and interplay between detector R&Ds with distinct challenges, requirements and solutions: the HL-LHC and the future Linear Colliders (ILC or CLIC) will be highlighted in this talk.
