Long Lived Particles

Abstract: Long-lived particles (LLPs) appear frequently in the Standard Model and beyond. Using heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) as a concrete example I show the potential of accelerator based experiments to detect such New Physics. The low mass range of its parameter space can be probed by the fixed target experiment NA62 while heavier HNLs can be searched for by the LHC experiments. Interestingly, even the heavy ion runs can be exploited to explore LLPs. Finally, I show the prospects of discovery at the FCC and introduce a recent proposal to optimize the FCC for LLP searches.
