Outreach and Diversity in HEP

Abstract: High Energy Physics is an inherently international endeavour, and achieving its ambitious scientific goals depends on attracting and supporting the best talent worldwide through diversity, equity, and inclusion. Central to this is effective outreach: communicating not only our results, but also the scientific method and how large-scale science works, to the public and policymakers. I will discuss outreach, education, and EDI activities in both UK and international contexts, including ICTP’s Physics Without Frontiers, which works to reduce the global gap in access to scientific training, and finally the ATLAS Open Data project, which makes real LHC data publicly available and is now widely used for education and training by tens of thousands of students worldwide.
