Instrumentation Course 2001 - Lecture notes            Prof. G. Hall

In the printed notes given out in the, a few, mostly, typographical errors were not spotted in time.
I corrected them before posting on the Web. This is the list:

Basic material
p20. The low pass filter rolls off at 6db/octave, as it correctly says on the next page, NOT 3dB per octave.

Fourier transforms
p9. The original plot was for sin(wa)/w, with a = 4, not 2sin(wa)/a. The plot on the web shows 2sin(wa)/a with a = 2.
p10. The wrong figure was originally pasted in for the phase of the bandpass filter.
p13. At the bottom of the page, the Fourier component frequencies for cos(w0t)cos(w1t) should be obvious.
It was mis-typed in the original.
p14. A minus sign was missed out, which was pointed out. Later F0 appeared as F0.
p15.   in line 3, some "f"s appear as "d"s
p19 was added after the notes were printed, so subsequent pages are renumbered.

Sensors and transducers
p4 . In line 2, "source" was printed for "load" in two places. They should be obvious.

Transistor amplifiers
p23. On differential amplifiers, in line 3, it should say RE and not R1
     ie VE1 = VA + I1RandVE2 = VA + I2RE

Data transmission
The results for open circuit and short circuit termination were typed the wrong way round.
(It is a real mystery how this one slipped through! - see the formulae above)

open circuit termination  ZL = *
    Vref/Vinc = +1       VL/Vinc = 2     reflected signal = incident signal
short circuit termination ZL = 0
    Vref/Vinc = -1       VL/Vinc = 0     inverted fully reflected signal

Pulse shaping
p4. There were a few typographical errors

ADCS
p1. The definitions of Integral and Differential Non-Linearity were typed the wrong way round.

z-transform
The definition of z had an incorrect minus sign:  z = exp(s*t)

Let me know if there are any I haven't spotted!
