Notes

1.         Introduction                                                                                                 Y. Nagashima

2.         Notes from previous meeting and review of actions

3.         Some more definition of w/s #1 agenda:

3.1       Theoretical sub-group                                                                                 S. King

S.Pascoli has agreed to come to w/s and will speak on leptogenesis. L.Everett and S.Choubhey have also been contacted, SC has agreed to come. A.de Gouvea contacted but no response. S.Antusch may come to contribute on renormalisation group issues. SK/KL trying to put together cosmological argument in favour of precision study of neutrino physics.

3.2       Phenomenological subgroup                                                                     O. Yasuda

Plans to invite those who have published on ‘new physics models’ to try and make a collaboration on unitarity issues. Will invite T2K expert to ensure that the option for a long-baseline detector in Korea can be considered.

3.3       Experimental subgroup                                                                               K. Long

Have started preparing common baselines for comparison. Madrid, Valencia, Wisconsin, and Warwick groups contributing. Early part of the w/s agenda would be presentations of the various calculations to expose the differences. Those interested would then need to discuss in detail the next steps.

Action: 3.1: Subgroup conveners: Define what talks are desired for the w/s.

4.         Interaction with detector subgroup

Suggest to make a summary of detector assumptions to make a dialogue with the detector group. ML emphasised the importance of having detector defined by detector experts.

Action: 4.1: YN & Council: Invite detector experts to workshop

Action 4.2: KL: Prepare detector performance summary document for discussion.

5.         Strengthening of muon subgroup

LR reported that W.Marciano has agreed to join the Council as muon theorist. Muon subgroup is somewhat independent, but should be recognised as a fourth subgroup lead by LR.

6.         Very preliminary discussion of KEK plenary meeting

WWW site now in preparation. YN proposes to invite K.Nakamura to the Council in order to strengthen links to KEK.

7.         Very preliminary discussion of March w/s in Boston

Boston, week of 06Mar06. Support for department identified. Three meeting rooms have also been identified.

8.         AoB

Deadline for definition of speakers for w/s #1 end of this week.
