WP3: Software and Physics

• COMET poses challenges for the software

• very high background rates, large uncertainties in Standard Model processes at their tails

• No other COMET group has a similar track record for building software frameworks and experience with developing and running COMET software in the past

• the UK provided the unified Geant4 simulation on which COMET proposal documents are based

• In WP3 we will:

• develop the offline software, providing a framework that will facilitate simulation, reconstruction and analysis. This is based on the nd280 framework
• produce final physics designs and optimise deployment configurations of several key components
• provide computing resources and manpower and the offline database
