WP1.7: J-PARC LINAC Extinction Studies

• Unique opportunity to apply UK expertise directly to J-PARC proton beam

• Beam “extinction” enhancement is considered a feature specific to the COMET experiment

• Prompt backgrounds are proportional to extinction factor

• Experience from FETS at RAL (R&D into intense proton beam front-ends) is directly applicable

• Good synergy with C. Plostinar’s existing work

• work planned coordinated with M. Ikegami (J-PARC LINAC)
