The goal of the International Design Study for the Neutrino Factory (the IDS-NF) is to deliver by 2012 a Reference Design Report in which the physics performance of the Neutrino Factory is detailed and the specification of each of the accelerator, diagnostic, and detector systems that make up the facility are defined. At the first plenary meeting of the IDS-NF at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, the IDS-NF baseline specification was revisited, facility improvements considered and a work plan developed. At this, the second plenary meeting of the IDS-NF, progress on the work plan will be presented, an update on the critical R&D areas will be given and an initial discussion of the costing model for the accelerator facility and detectors will occur. The working groups will also discuss and present a first pass at a work breakdown of the engineering tasks that will be needed for the study.
